Hi, I’m Danielle, founder of The Silkie Lab. Before starting the lab, I worked for years in customer support, customer success, and website design, helping people solve problems and building systems that are clear, reliable, and easy to use. That mindset carries straight into how I run this business. Every PCR test is performed in-house by me using primers and assays based on published, research-backed studies. I design, validate, and run each test myself, so nothing is outsourced and nothing leaves my lab.

My path into genetics became personal after I was diagnosed with blood cancer, which led me to spend a lot of time learning how DNA, mutations, and genetic testing actually function at a practical level. That deep dive naturally crossed over into my life as a breeder. I raise Lavender Silkies, Lavender/Laced Silkies, Gray Silkies, and Red Silkies, and I built The Silkie Lab because I wanted clear, dependable answers when planning my own breeding programs. What started as testing my own birds grew into a lab that now helps breeders across the country make smarter, more confident decisions backed by real data.
