The Lavender PCR Gene Test for birds is a cutting-edge diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of the lavender gene, which is responsible for the unique lavender coloration in certain bird species. Ideal for breeders, veterinarians, and bird enthusiasts, this test identifies whether a bird is a carrier, non-carrier, or expresses the lavender trait. With rapid results and high sensitivity, the Lavender PCR Gene Test provides crucial insights into your bird’s genetic makeup, helping you make informed decisions about breeding, care, and color inheritance.

You will get one of three results with this test. Either your bird will not have the Lavender gene, they will have one copy, or they will have two copies. One copy will mean that your bird is split for lavender – it carries the gene but you do not see it (commonly referenced as a Split). Two copies means that your bird has the two required genes to visually express the Lavender color. Lavender is a recessive trait, and you need two copies (one from each parent) for it to visually show on your bird.

Our test will show if your bird carries one copy of the gene or two.

We can do this test in Chickens and Geese, and accept a variety of sample types.
