Mareks Antigen Testing

The Marek’s Disease Virus (MDV) Antigen Rapid Test is a diagnostic tool used in veterinary medicine to detect the presence of MDV antigens in poultry. Marek’s disease is a highly contagious viral disease affecting chickens, caused by MDV. The rapid test typically involves collecting a sample from birds, such as blood or feathers, and using specific antibodies that bind to MDV antigens if present. The test provides quick results, usually within minutes, aiding in early detection and management of Marek’s disease outbreaks in poultry farms.

For MDV rapid antigen tests, sensitivity and specificity can vary, but they are typically designed to be sensitive enough to detect the virus during its infectious stage when antigens are present in the bird’s system.

We are able to accept samples from Cloaca swabs, blood in vials, and blood on paper like a coffee filter. We do not send you sample collection supplies.
