DNA-Based PCR Test for Respiratory Disease Detection

Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) is a highly contagious respiratory pathogen that affects chickens, turkeys, and other poultry. This test uses PCR to detect the presence of MG bacterial DNA, indicating an active infection at the time of sampling.

It is one of the most common and contagious causes of chronic respiratory disease in birds.

Unlike many other bacteria, MG lacks a cell wall, making it more difficult for birds to fight off and for antibiotics to treat effectively. It spreads through the air, direct contact, and contaminated equipment, and once it enters a flock, it can be very hard to eliminate — especially in closed environments.

✅ What This Test Detects:

  • MG bacterial DNA in the sample
  • Positive results mean the bird is actively infected and shedding MG

❌ What This Test Does Not Detect:

  • Birds that are vaccinated for MG
  • Asymptomatic carriers not currently shedding bacteria
  • Birds that were infected in the past but have recovered

🧾 Your Results Will Say:

  • Positive: MG infection is currently present
  • Negative: No MG DNA detected — bird may be healthy, recovered, or not actively shedding

This test is ideal for diagnosing symptomatic birds in real time and helping you contain outbreaks quickly.
